Music...But No TV

2005-04-30 at 11:01 p.m.

Looks like I might be getting a job soon. I filled out an application form for a hotel on Monday, and said I'd take a waitressing job or anything really, and I got a call back wanting to confirm my address. When they found out just how central I am, they sounded quite impressed and sent me a letter saying they'll be in touch soon about whether I've got a job. I have good hopes for it as hotels are usually desperate for staff, as no one really sticks around very long. I have done some waitressing before (breakfast shift, which was not very pleasant) and while I didn't like it, I know I can do it, and I can certainly stick with it until something better comes along or until I go to university in September. At least it will mean money, hopefully more money than I get of the government and it'll mean I don't have to go to the charity place all the time. Apparently I have to go there every day in the week from nine till five, in order to look for jobs in their pitiful selection of newspapers. Not fun.

Aside from that, dad has departed for America and rang up today saying he's going to buy a loud shirt and a stetson, because he brought his cowboy boots along already and thinks this will make a good impression at a barbecue he's going to. When left to himself my dad reverts to truly terrible taste in casual clothes but apparently this should be ok as he says Texans have no taste either.

My other good news is that I've decided to get an iPod with the money that mum unexpectedly got rather than go on holiday, as if I get a job I may be able to get a cheap holiday through them or at least go with someone, maybe. So that means I can put all of my songs onto it and hopefully make my computer less slow.

We think a bird has flown into our television aerial, as we cannot get any reception from the TV at the moment. I'm hoping that will be fixed before Tuesday because I have a whole load of things I record then, while I'm at my class, and I don't really want to miss them.

Aside from that everything has been rather quiet, I've been enjoying the warm weather before London gets way too hot, which it probably will do in the next few weeks. Oh, and listening to the London Boys who I haven't heard for ages, am not sure are any good, but have considerable nostalgia value for me as theirs was the first record I ever bought.
