All Hail the Finished Essay

2005-04-19 at 12:02 a.m.

At last my essay is finished. Truly you would be proud of my 1,022 word opus on "The Impact of Invasive Species on an Ecosystem"! Well, maybe its not that thrilling, but its a fairly decent essay and I have some nice sources to quote (mwhaha, the UN, no less.) I was driven slightly mad the day before yesterday when, writing up, I discovered two quotes from obviously the same document which were not the same as each other and then promptly could not find the document itself. So I sent an email to the Convention on Biological Diversity and a nice woman sent me the citation for the source, as well as salutations from Montreal! (In case anyone is interested, which they are not, it was Decision VI/21 of the Conference of the Parties)

That took up much of my weekend, and means I have failed to do my physics assignment, but I don't think they'll mind and in any case there is little I can do about it now.

Spent yesterday in the pub and didn't go and see the London Marathon, even though the route was just near my house (which is why I could only go to the pub, not that I ever go anywhere else but I couldn't have gone anywhere even if I had wanted to).

Today though, I bought a new CD, which I could not afford. You see, this is the real advantage of illegally-downloaded music - I keep finding that I'll download two songs from an album, then decide I like it and buy the thing. But before I had filesharing software, I rarely bought albums at all, and if I did, it tended to be Bob Dylan or something. Not that I can really afford to buy these things, but never mind. The album I bought was Green Day's "American Idiot", of which I heard two songs and liked. Now I'm trying to think who they remind me of - but as I understand they're quite an old band its entirely possible they remind me of themselves.

And tomorrow, I shall be signing on again, but this time at 10.20am. Which means that I'll be up in the West End very early. Though that is just as well because I have to take back my "Jackie Brown" cd as it is abnormally quiet. Depending on the monetary situation I might take advantage of the 3-things-for-twenty-quid offer at Virgin to buy another three things, possibly DVDs as I'm trying to replace my favourite videos now. I'll have to see though. Means I must remember to take reading material with me if I'm to be stuck for five hours before class.

Till then...
