I did quite well in my exam, assignment and practical for all that I thought I wouldn't, though the marks escape me at this moment, though none was lower than 65% so I'm pleased. We had a most confusing lecture about the nervous system which I didn't really understand and will have to read up on. Turns out I have another assignment to complete and to start the one after that (an essay on ecology) over the holidays. I'm not worried about the essay - its only 1,000 words which is nothing compared to the ones I wrote for university. I don't have to finish it before the end of the holidays fortunately as it will be quite difficult to get the books I need, but I might see if I can write about something local-ish and pick up some nice facts and figures that way.
London has suddenly gone rather hot, it seems spring - or what passes for spring down here - is definitely arriving. Took the dog for a long walk this morning but couldn't get him to go to the toilet. And now my life revolves around his ability to shit, which I can't help feeling is rather pathetic. I've figured out how to get him to stop pawing me in a disturbingly sexual manner though - if I prevent him from jumping on my knee and keep telling him to sit down eventually he just lies on the floor.
Having a dog has meant I woke up rather early again this morning, which is probably a good thing but I do rather miss sitting up at night. Plus, I tend to run madly around while listening to music at night and I think I need to find out whether that will make the dog bark (because he will probably think I have gone mad) or not. Maybe I'll try tonight.
Today is mum's 60th birthday so I got her a card yesterday and I bought her a necklace and matching earrings today. She wanted burgundy-coloured velvet gloves but I couldn't find any and in any case its the wrong season. So I hope she'll like what I did get because I couldn't think of anything else to get her that wasn't books or music, neither of which she really wants.
Thats about it really, I think. I'm just sitting here feeling rather worried as I've just recalled that this place has no toilet, but lest you think I have become bowel-obsessed (which the English are traditionally supposed to do - the French become obsessed with their livers), I'll end this now.
