I'm up in the Frozen North now, though it isn't all that frozen (yet). The journey was as boring as ever, made worse by our accidentally trapping most of our tapes in the back of the car and therefore having to listen to the Dubliners over and over for six hours. Fortunately I fell asleep at Cambridge and woke up again at Scotch Corner so I missed most of the journey. Very handy, that is.
We haven't been doing much. We didn't go to church on Christmas Eve like we normally do, because it was raining and cold. Also we couldn't think what church to go to and I could only recommend the United Reformed church with the scary old ladies and we didn't know if they were having a service. Plus mum would not have liked them as they are low church.
Christmas day was fun though. I am the recipient of many presents, including the ubiquitous clothing, though that was actually rather nice this year. I got GTA: San Andreas like I was expecting but as my playstation is in London I have to wait a bit before I can play it. Also got a very nice bag from my aunty - she has excellent taste in bags. Got the St Trinians films as well which we've been watching. And some other things, mostly small bits and pieces. Though my grandparents gave me £60 and my parents gave me £100 so I'm in the money now! I thought about getting an iPod with my newfound cash but I think I won't as dad has been hinting he might buy me a cheap one or at least a cheaper one when he goes to Houston in May.
Naturally we participated in the great tradition of stuffing our faces on Christmas day and then feeling rather unwell afterwards, and I had to take a long walk to stop feeling as though I was going to explode.
Boxing Day - that'd be yesterday - my grandparents came for lunch. Nana, grandad and my aunty (she of the lovely bags) came to be fed on turkey again and chat. We played old showtunes and the grandparents talked about old times and about long-dead relatives. Including someone who whitewashed their house while their dad was lying dead under a dustsheet in the corner of the room...best not to ask really.
That's really been about it and I'm just about to go off into the town to browse around - not that most places will be open, we are in the countryside!
