Ramblings

2004-12-04 at 9:39 p.m.

I shouldn't be on here really. I'm in the middle of writing up an experiment I did on Tuesday, about hydrogen peroxide and catalase. Not the most exciting of experiments I have to say, but then we are only doing A-Level type stuff. I could probably go and finish writing it now but I thought I'd pop online and find some bells and whistles to put in, which might hopefully get my marks up into the 90s for biology. You never know. So far I've found one moderately interesting website and one really quite interesting website which says that apparently a lack of catalase in humans can cause vitiligo (that skin disease which makes people go blotchy, apparently). Which I'm debating putting into my discussion as an example of "real-world uses for this enzyme", but am a tad worried that it will make me look too clever by half if I do. Hmmm. Maybe as a short aside.

Aside from this terribly exciting homework of mine I've not been doing a great deal. I spent most of today watching the Dad's Army day on UKTV Gold. I always liked Dad's Army, though I seem to remember having a faintly disturbing crush on John Le Mesurier as a kid. Should I be admitting that? Hem.

Supergran and Friends The internet is strange, just looking for that link above led to me finding a BBC page about Supergran. Does anyone else remember that programme? The one and only reason I remember it is because it was filmed in Tynemouth, so I watched it as a kid - because that's where I lived. Well, near enough. They have the bicycle from the series hanging in the Land of Green Ginger. For the uninitiated, that's an old church which is full of little (and weird) shops in Tynemouth. Mad, mad, mad.

Anyway, what was I saying? I seem to have lost track. I'd best be getting back to the printing out strange websites about biology before I go on my walk I suppose.

'Later.
