Actually while we were in HMV buying the playstation stuff we saw a DVD set that I think I'll be getting for Christmas, a collected thing of the St Trinians films. I remember being quite disturbed when, at quite an advanced age someone informed me that the headmistress in those films was a man...I'd never noticed. That probably says something strange about me, but he looked just like a teacher I had in primary school! I wonder if other countries go in for the watching-men-in-dresses thing so much as we do?
Anyway, I got my birthday presents then, a little early because of dad going to Moscow. I am now the proud possessor of a CD player, a game, a moneybox, nightclothes, and some other stuff that I've forgotten. Looks like I have to wait till Christmas for GTA though. Afterwards I headed off to a nearby pub. Mostly for a smoke, I have to admit.
Today was a bit disappointing. I went with mum and dad yesterday because there was a big rugby match on and the pub I generally go to is a big sporty one, and whenever the rugby or the football is on it gets so crowded I can't get a seat. So I thought today would be fine but when I got there they were showing highlights of some Arsenal game and it was as crowded as ever. So I went to the local hotel, to their bar and sat there for a bit reading my "lower-class magazines" as mum likes to call them. You must know the ones, intended for ladies of a certain age, always full of a) fat woman becomes thin b) woman meets man c) woman gets beaten/killed by man d) woman loses baby e) woman gets nasty illness. I like them, anyway, at least they're not full of adverts. As I was sitting I overheard a group of women chatting to the waiter about the differences between English curries and Indian ones, apparently ours are nothing like the Indian ones. I heard that our Chinese food is not much like proper Chinese food either - I had a friend at school who was Chinese and I remember her saying that Chinese curry is an English invention, that they don't eat it. Though I was heartily cheered when she once said that she was always getting told off for not using chopsticks properly and having difficulty with them - its not just me!
Enough about food, I think. I have chocolate, and I'm going to eat it while playing Civ I think. Assuming the course tomorrow doesn't leave me too tired I'm going to update again then.
