I had my head examined

2004-05-28 at 12:02 a.m.

Well, I had my head looked at! It was okay actually. The staff were nice and chatty, in any case. It was a bit strange having to sit like I was at the hairdressers while the nurse measured my head, put red marks on it and then stuck wires on it with paste though. Then I had to lie on a bed and open and shut my eyes, she said I should try to go to sleep as it helps the readings, but that was impossible because someone was making weird noises next door. Then I had to hyperventilate and look at flashing lights. Didn't take too long really. She washed the red marks off my head after too, though the paste didn't come off till this morning when I washed it, but fortunately it just looked like I was wearing badly-applied hair gel so not too bad.

Went to my course afterwards. Which was ok, the last session is next week, so I'm staying here while mum and dad go back up North again, not that I exactly mind. Had some good chat with people, enjoyed myself, its nice to see people and be able to talk to people.

In fact the only fly in the ointment was that, unlike normal, I wasn't able to go and buy a book or so in Borders afterwards. This is because my already late benefit money hasn't come through leaving me with precisely 11p. I had to borrow money off mum and dad half last week, and yesterday and today. I can't think whats wrong, I asked them on Monday as well and they said it was some sort of computer error and it would be in my bank by today. So I'll have to check tomorrow and ring them up if its still not there because I will be needing it next week with mum and dad not here as I do tend to overspend.

Which made today a wee bit disappointing as well. I had decided to go up to Charing Cross Road and feel a few books and maybe buy a nice one or two, but because my money wasn't in I couldn't. Well I was able to buy a theology book (by someone I know, which is the only reason I bought the thing) and The Secret Garden which I haven't read since I was little and just fancied reading again. It was only 99p so not exactly a sacrifice.

Anyway I'm a bit tired now. I had to quickly write a job application out because currently it is taking TWENTY-EIGHT DAYS for first-class mail to reach me, meaning that I am losing the chance to even apply for most of the jobs I write for, or else have to rush like mad and hope that the Post Office can actually deliver the damn letters at the other end.

I think Oona King (my MP) might be getting a letter soon, as might the Minister for Work and Pensions, whoever that is, because I am sure that a nice letter from a long-term unemployed person saying that they cannot get work (and are losing potentially a lot of money) because the post is shite will have an effect. I might even get compensation :D

So, anyway, must go, I am drooping with tiredness here.
