Disappointment

2004-04-04 at 10:48 p.m.

Well, thats disappointing. I saw an advert for a really good job with the BBC - a month's paid work experience, a senior journalist as a mentor - only it turns out that you have to applied to do a postgraduate journalism course first. Its a great opportunity, especially as they pay your course fees, give you living money, and all the stuff I just mentioned - but I haven't applied anywhere and can't afford the course fees if I didn't get the job. And frankly? I wouldn't, one week's journalism work experience is nothing when half the people who are applying have, I bet, run their student newspapers, been on hospital radios, etc etc etc.

*Sigh*

I hope I do manage to get a job sometime.

Bit of a kerfuffle today. They're doing roadworks or something so our electricity was off all day - and the woman who lives down the road's husband was taken ill. They had to get an ambulance for him, and now the paramedics are raging because, of course, the lifts were off, and they had to carry the guy down the (winding) stairs!

As for me, I slept through it, as per normal. Then as soon as the lights came back on I went on the playstation, for we have another game that came in the post.

Must write to my aunty in australia as she's written me a card. In fact, I will write to her, and post it when I go to the library to take back my books before Shirley comes - because letters to Australia have to be weighed (always a pain).

Maybe the guy from the magazine will get back to me tomorrow. And I have to see the doctor again on Wednesday, presumably to find out whether my liver has rotted away or something. Though I doubt anything is wrong with it. Shouldn't be, anyway, I don't drink that much.

So, thats about it, in any case my new game is calling to me.
