The Five Triggers

• Power - the desire to control others, to make them obey, to be over another person. We may deny we have such desires, but they are one of the most powerful forces in the human nature. We may be back street behind the scenes kingmakers or we may be the kings, but we all desire the power that brings.
• Fame - to be known, to be admired, look at the contestants on a thousand reality tv shows, all lusting after a few minutes of fame for themselves.
• Sex - unholy desires, perversions and the darkest secrets of the human heart, for them to be satisfied attracts people. Even love can be a lure for those who do not possess it.
• Money - to amass a fortune beyond the dreams of avarice, to have more than our neighbour, to shoot keeping up with the Joneses out into deepest space and be pre-eminent. Wealth is itself a kind of power, you can buy most things in this world of ours, loyalty and fame and even love. Whatever you desire.
• Knowledge - to know all the secrets of the earth is what the magicians and the esoteric seekers always wanted. To know the truths that are in the darkness as well as in the light is a powerful draw. Power lies at the heart of it all, to know things about another person, to know the secrets of the gods means you can control them. Even to know another's true name, purpose or desire gives you power over them. You may never exercise it, but you always have the potential to do so.

These are the means by which we may control our fellow creatures, bribe or threaten them into compliance with our will. You can see by just a glance many times what trigger belongs to what person, how to manipulate them, and make them willing to do your will. That is the joy of it, they obey willingly, for you promise their heart's desire.

Few are incorruptible, I have only met one such - and even he could be corrupted by altruism itself.

With the application of the five triggers we can control the earth.
