My New Project

2003-12-19 at 12:16 a.m.

My jaw hurts. I don't know what I was doing in my sleep!

*cough*

Anyway, I've decided on a couple of projects to keep myself occupied over the holidays. (Feels pleased with herself). One is personal, one will help on my CV (I hope). For my CV, I'm going to find a church near me - in Northumberland I think - and offer to make them a website. I won't charge them, and I'll work hard to make it the best I can. Then I can use it as a sort of "portfolio" and maybe try to get a job in web design if I can go to university again to learn how to do it a bit better.

My personal project will be the creation of another website. This one will definitely not be one I'll be showing to employers though. I've decided to make a website about SI, another one. But this one won't be general. I've decided to make a theologically-minded one.

Basically, I want to discuss the relationship between SI and Christianity. What different Christian views on it are (sin/not sin), Christian SI-like movements (flagellants etc) and things like the triggering effect of Jesus and the possibility of SIers as a "type" of Jesus, at least in the minds of some. I may make it theologically radical, but I think I'll try to make it quite balanced in viewpoints.

There is a Christian SI site - the Lysamena Project but I want to do one which engages with the Bible, any extrabiblical texts I can find with relevance, and canvasses a wide range of views.

I've asked on Safe Haven for people's views, if they're Christian, and if anyone reading this is Christian (of any kind - that includes Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses) and would like to talk about their faith in relation to their SI or their views on SI, please email me at crazy_cutter@lycos.com

Incidentally if anyone knows of websites/books which discuss flagellants etc and/or religious mania I'd be very grateful for recommendations.

It will be some time before its complete, I'd imagine, but I'm going to have a good go, I think. Might as well use all that expensive theological training for something! (I might write to Rowan Williams...thats a thought)
